Historical accounts suggest that the temple was constructed by the ruler Cheraman Perumal approximately 2000 years ago, with the “Pratishta” ceremony performed by Shri.Jangama Muni, who arrived at this location for meditation. The ownership of the temple rests with ten Brahmin families, namely Thaliyal Mana, Makaramattathu Mana, Maliekkal Mana, Padamattathu Mana, Padappa Mana, Vaippan Mana, Edaprambilli Mana, Mozhully Mana, Potty Mana, and Aazhvancherry Thamprakkal. Due to their geographical dispersion and the challenges of managing the temple effectively, these families have entrusted the management authority to the “Urazhma Devaswam Board.” At present, the temple operates under the supervision of the “Urazhma Devaswam Board” and a committee known as the “Bharanasahayasamithi,” formed by local residents.

ഏകദേശം 2000 വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പ് ചേരമാൻ പെരുമാൾ എന്ന ഭരണാധികാരിയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചതെന്ന് ചരിത്രപരമായ വിവരണങ്ങൾ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു, ധ്യാനത്തിനായി ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് എത്തിയ ശ്രീ.ജംഗമ മുനിയാണ് “പ്രതിഷ്ഠ” ചടങ്ങ് നടത്തിയത് എന്ന് ചരിതം സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. തളിയൽ മന, മകരമറ്റത്തു മന, മാളിയേക്കൽ മന, പടമറ്റത്തു മന, പടപ്പ മന, വൈപ്പൻ മന, ഇടപ്രമ്പിള്ളി മന, മൊഴുള്ളി മന, പോറ്റി മന, ആഴ്‌വാഞ്ചേരി തമ്പ്രാക്കൾ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പത്ത് ബ്രാഹ്മണ കുടുംബങ്ങൾക്കാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൻ്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥാവകാശം. ഈ കുടുംബങ്ങളുടെ ഭൂമിശാസ്ത്രപരമായ വ്യതിചലനവും ക്ഷേത്രം ഫലപ്രദമായി കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനുള്ള സാങ്കേതിക ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകളും കാരണം, ഈ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൻ്റെ നടത്തിപ്പവകാശം “ഊരാഴ്മ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിനെ” ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു. നിലവിൽ, ക്ഷേത്രം “ഊരാഴ്മ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിൻ്റെ” മേൽനോട്ടത്തിലും പ്രദേശവാസികൾ രൂപീകരിച്ച “ഭരണസഹായസമിതി” എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു സമിതിയുടെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിലുമാണ് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.
